Aura Battler Dunbine
What a remarkable incident!
The continuation of Aura Battler Dunbine-one of my favorite animation produced by Tomino Yoshiyuki-is coming!
The Wings of Rean.

Of course, I've bought the Laserdisc sets of Aura Battler Dunbine 10years ago.
pcj.gif

People who haven't watched Dunbine may think it is a Robot-animation but it is also a real Fantasy of the world called Byston Well-a world which exists between land and sea, and the two worlds are partitioned off by "life" and "death".
pcj.gif

The animation is a story of ambition of Drake Ruft-the feudal lord of the country "A"- but in the novel "A record of Aura Battler", the story that Drake' heart capurd by Garow-Ran, a lower grade fairy is written.

My friend who gave I the information of "The Wings of Rean" did not know what laserdisc is.
I think very few people knows what LD is now, as DVD became the main current.
Laserdisc is a same audio-visual media of 30cm. diameter just like a big DVD and was a mainstream till 10years ago, especilally among animation fans.
pcj.gif

The audio signal is digital but visual signal is analog and not condensed like DVD.

The new "Wings of Rean" seems to be different from the old one and I cannot wait for the DVD!

Cambodia
Today, I examined closely the 2 cigarettes of Cambodia my friend sent I.
"Cambo VIRGINIA" and "LIBERATION".

First of all, both cigarettes were a little poor in their packing^_^

Of course, I cannot read Khmer and its alphabets,
pcj.gif

but the 1st one was written "LIBERATION" in English on the back of the package.
pcj.gif

The Khmer alphabets write from right to left and they are phonetic symbols.

My mind was torn between the 2 choices-which one I shall smoke first-.
"Cambo VIRGINIA" maybe a popular brand in Cambodia as it has a name "Cambo" but I started from "LIBERATION" as it had an illustration that reminds I of Asia.

This is a note written on the side of the "LIBERATION"'s box.
pcj.gif

My first impression is that it has a taste queer and the filter is not charcoal.
Not a very refined mix and Burley* is coming to the front.
The tar value maybe around 9mg.

*Burley
Tobaccoes can be classified in 7.
-Virginia
-Orient
-Burley
-Kentucky
-Cavendish
-Perique
-Latakia
Burley have stimulus and they are usually heated up to calm it when blended.

"Cambo VIRGINIA" was better than "LIBERATION".
There is a note written "STYLE IN LONDON/NEW YORK/PARIS" and "Virginia" tobacco is the very basic of cigarettes.
pcj.gif

The tar value maybe around 10mg.

In the very beginning, cigarettes were of high purity of a blend of Virginia and Orient only but in 1913, "CAMEL" adopted Burley which was said not suitable for cigarettes and added annexe. This method is called "American blend".

This is a postcard my friend sent I from Cambodia.

New year
A happy new year to bloggers.
I am writing a blog after a very long time.
I've been very busy from the end of last year till now and became busy again in different reason again.
I had received a lot of mails during those days and here are the part of them.

pcj.gif

A letter from my German friend who lived in Taiwan(he said he had removed to Edinburgh).
He sent me 3 letters and a lot of attractive materials were included. Cigarettes, new year card, his and his wife's photo and especially a lot of meterstamps of Taiwan.

pcj.gif

Another mail was from Jacques C. Schiff, Jr., Inc.
pcj.gif

Somehow they knew that I am a member of International Society of Japanese Philately and gave I an invitation to the Schiff auctiion.
Why not? I don't have a reason to refuse and filled in the form.

pcj.gif

pcj.gif

The reason I became busy again is that I have to make entries to 2 stamp shows.
When I won Emerald at Swan River Stamp Show 2005, an entry form for River City 2006 stamp exhibition was included.
For this, I decided to make an entry and started working for a piece of work, titled "EURASIA",
pcj.gif

but I a letter that I am welcome to Canberra Stamp Show 2006 slided into I at the last moment(the deadline is this March!).
I had no preparation for another stamp exhibition but it is a capital chance and decided to make a collection of ATMs.

pcj.gif

Actually, I am very new to ATMs(my friend in Taiwan has been collecting ATMs for a long time) but let I make a challenge how much can I go with my poor collection.
